Report published by Mikko McGregor Corson as part of an independent study course (GENV 4951 Divestment and Climate Finance), supervised by Dr. Araby Smyth in the winter semester of 2026. The report provides the most up to date summary of the Canadian universities that have committed to full fossil fuel divestment and reviews the progress universities have made to meet those commitments. 13 Canadian universities have committed to divestment and 7 have fully completed divestment as of April, 2026. Through analysis of the steps other institutions have taken successfully and an interview with financial staff at the Université Laval, which was the first university to commit to full divestment, Mikko outlined the steps Mount Allison University would need to take to divest. Divestment is not a complicated process if your leadership is willing to actually commit to radical change.
